A "Night at the Speakeasy" with Sterling Weddings and Events at the Showcase Room in Tempe
I read a little blurb about the Showcase Room last fall and was stoked to have another East Valley venue to create awesome floral for! The showcase room is an awesome blank-slate event space tucked behind the Yard and Culinary dropout in Tempe. Nate and I snuck away from our dinner at Culinary Dropout in December and took a little self-guided tour of the space. Weathered reclaimed wood, hipster vibe, I was in love. I couldn't wait to fill that place with flowers.
When Care of Sterling Weddings and Events approached me about joining forces for Februarys WIPA meeting I couldn't say yes fast enough! Then when she started talking about a speakeasy theme, my little designer brain was chomping at the bit to bring in something reminiscent of the 1920s/30s but with a masculine twist.
The floral was soft and feminine off-set by weathered containers, some with Art Deco details. For the awesome whiskey barrel high boys provided by Classic, I wanted to get a bit more masculine and brought in cigar boxes and filled them with old liquor and perfume bottles.
The star of the show though was the lightbulb backdrop we created to back-light the speaker Sam Fox of Fox Restaurant Concepts. He was an amazing speaker and it was great to not only work such a cool event, but to attend and learn something too! The food was amazing. I can't say enough good things about those darn pretzels and cheese fondue. There's no quitting carbs when there's a Fox Restaurant around. :)
